Saudi Arabia

THE rise of a giant

More than 50% of Saudi citizens are under 25 years of age – and the Kingdom’s population is not just getting younger, it is growing fast. Despite the vast oil reserves that still lie untapped beneth its deserts and seas, Saudi Arabia has recognised that it needs to find ways of catering for the aspirations of its young people for whom there are simply not enough jobs in the upstream and downstream energy sectors.

Saudi Arabia – The Rise of a Giant reports on how the government has responded to this challenge by ploughing billions of dollars of its oil revenues into education and the creation of a series of Economic Cities where the cohorts of newly trained knowledge workers, scientists and engineers can live and work.
