Shah Deniz 2 on course for 2018 – BP

Hull of of the Khankendi leaves SingaporeThe massive Shah Deniz 2 gas project in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea is now over 50% complete in terms of engineering, procurement and construction, and remains on target to go on stream in 2018, BP claimed today. “A major construction milestone was achieved in the third quarter [of 2105] with the departure from Singapore of the two hull sections [108,000 in weight, 140m long, 16m wide and 17m high] for the subsea construction vessel Khankendi,” it said today. “Once completed, this new vessel will be deployed to the Shah Deniz 2 area for the construction of the subsea structures.” 
Once it is up and running, Shah Deniz 2 is expected to add 16 bcma of gas production to the approximately 9 bcma already produced by Shah Deniz Stage 1.
