Dutch NACO consultancy wins Tehran IKIA airport town contract

Imam Khomeini International AirportIKIA airport: The Netherlands Airport Consultant Company (NACO) has been awarded a five-year contract to provide consultancy services for the first phase of the $2.8bn development of a complex adjacent to the Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) in southern Tehran. Phase 1 of the project includes construction of the Iranshahr and Salam passenger terminals, which between them will be able to handle up to 30 million passengers a year, and a free trade zone. The airport currently has the capacity to handle eight million passengers per annum.
Earlier this month, France’s Accor Hotels signed an agreement in Tehran to run two hotels near IKIA, marking the first venture into the country’s hospitality market by a major foreign company since 1979.Under the terms of the deal, the group will manage the four-star 196-room Ibis IKIA and the five-star 296-room Novotel IKIA.
