Foreign car sales ban imposed by Medvedev

Foreign car sales ban: Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has banned all federal and municipal government departments from buying foreign cars as well as public transport and emergency service vehicles. While he said that he hoped the decision would “help preserve a necessary balance in the market,” he stressed that the aim was not to exclude foreign companies from the Russian market but rather to “develop manufacturing cooperation with Russian producers … in the form of the localization of production.” The Moscow Times
