Moscow considers relaxing ban on Greek, Hungarian and Cypriot food imports

EU food import banFood imports: Following a visit to 37 agribusinesses in Greece, Cyprus and Hungary by a team of health inspectors from Russia’s food watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor over recent weeks, Moscow has indicated that it might consider offering the three countries some form of exemption from its retaliatory ban on food imports from the EU – provided their governments do not support an extension to the sanctions already imposed by the West. “Veterinary authorities from the three countries approached us …. to carry out inspections,”Rosselkhoznadzor’s Alexei Alekseenko said. “They want to be ready for the moment when we cancel or somehow modify our response to Western sanctions.”
The inspectors visited 16 agribusinesses in Greece, 15 in Hungary and six in Cyprus.
