Now Turkey thinks of slashing Russian LPG imports

LPG tankerTurkey is considering reducing its import of Russian LPG by as much as 25% next year, as tensions continue to worsen between Moscow and Ankara after the shooting down of a Russian warplane over Syria last week. An unidentified source told Reuters this week that Russian exports volumes to Turkey could drop from 1.1m to 0.8m tons.
LPG is widely used in Turkish households and powers about 40% of Turkish cars, the highest proportion in the world. If Turkey carries out the threat, the US, Algeria and Nigeria could help make up the shortfall. Turkey accounts for 21% of Russia’s total LPG exports, and Russia may find it harder to securing alternative export markets.
