Russia extends ban on Turkish food imports to complete embargo

Turkish tomatos in RussiaTurkish food imports: The Russian heath and safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor this week effectively put a ban on all Turkish fruit and vegetable imports after extending the existing embargo to zucchinis, lemons and grapefruits that had so far escaped inclusion on to the sanctions list. “We are now closing our gates to all [Turkish] fruit and vegetables, ” a statement regarding the issue, Rosselkhoznadzor President Sergey Dankvert confirmed
Moscow began halting the imports of fruit and vegetable products from Turkey in January in retaliation for the downing of a Russian Su-24 fighter jet near the Syrian border. and later added peppers, pomegranates and eggplants.
