Statoil commited to Black Sea exploration next year


Black Sea oil rigStatoil, the Norwegian oil and gas multinational, has committed to drill two exploratory wells in the Black Sea next year in conjunction with Rosneft, according to a progress statement issued by the Russian company. “In 2015, the company [Rosneft] is planning to conduct preparatory work for shelf drilling in 2016. This work entails the preparation of logistics bases in Sakhalin, Murmansk Region and Magadan, as well as geological and engineering research in Magadan,” the statement says. “In 2016, the company plans to drill two exploratory wells jointly with Statoil. They are planning to drill two wells in the Black Sea.”
